"Professional kindness and prowess"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

After an initial unsatisfactory experience in triage, I am compelled to offer my thanks to nurse Laura who works in the A&E Department of the Royal Alexandria Hospital. She came along to attend to my sister who is recovering from bowel cancer but who, unknown to us, was suffering from a twisted bowel and was in excruciating pain.

Nurse Laura was amazing. Her professional persona, quick action and bedside manner were excellent and helped to assure me that my sister was now receiving appropriate and highly skilled care.

Nurse Laura got it right. She was attentive, but not overly, she was swift in her care which I noted was just perfect, she was reassuring and explained all that she was doing and above all demonstrated a professional kindness and prowess that can't be bought.

Thank you nurse Laura for ensuring that my sister was looked after and that she received the appropriate care for her needs.

Wishing nurse Laura all the very best in her career. Onwards and upwards. Thank you so very much!

Dear Thankful sister

Your kind words around care afforded by Laura are greatly appreciated. I will personally make sure Laura gets sight of you post. I am sure she will be delighted to receive this. You have captured her fantastic approach so well and I am proud to respond on her behalf.

Thank you also for commenting on the negative experience in triage. I will ensure your post is shared with the whole team. Should you wish to raise anything specific then please do not hesitate in contacting me on gerry.mclaughlin@ggc.scot.nhs.uk and I will do my best to answer.

It must have been such a difficult time for your sister and indeed yourself having to attend A&E. I am delighted you have reflected overall on the care given.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Gerry
