I attended a pre assessment clinic before my laparoscopy. I attended an initial nurse who carried out the common observation, took blood (first time - which can be incredibly hard from me) and carried out an ECG.
I was then passed on to another nurse focused on anaesthetic issues. She was very knowledgeable and asked thorough and relative questions relating to my complex medical issues. As a result my procedure has been moved to an acute unit. She considered my many questions with patience and answered them comprehensively. I am confident in what to expect before, during and after the laparoscopy.
The pharmacist was equally detailed. She went through my medications, highlighted my current medication and answered a few questions I had.
I felt listened to in general and regarding this procedure, reassured that medical issues were taken seriously and I was looked at as more than just the procedure I was in pre assessment for. My appointment ran on time, I didn’t have to wait long but I also did not feel rushed when talking to the various professionals.
