"The experience was exemplary"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Endoscopy Unit

(as the patient),

I had a appointment for a sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. I had rectal cancer and had surgery to remove the tumor so I ended up with a permanent colostomy stoma and a rectal stump.

The examination was through my stoma and anus which I was nervous about but I shouldn't have been.

The nurses who performed the procedure were excellent...they talked me through what was going to happen and were very gentle with me. I didn't feel a thing. The experience from I came into the hospital till it was complete was exemplary....I couldn't fault it.

Hugo8,

Thank you so much for your kind compliments to the team. We're glad you felt so reassured by our endoscopy team and had such a positive experience. I have highlighted our comments to our team at our daily safety briefing.
