"Surprising information about me"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Last December I had a cardiac rehab assessment appointment with Nurse Brown at Crosshouse Hospital, Ayrshire. As she went through my recent medical history, I stopped her to check that the notes she was reading from really were mine because she was giving me information I had not heard before and did not recognise.

I have had a number of procedures and follow-up appointments in the last few years and I cannot remember anyone explaining my situation more clearly or in as much detail.

It turned out that information I had been given previously was at best hurried and unclear, at worst completely inaccurate. As a consequence, I had to make significant changes to my lifestyle that proved to be unnecessary.

When I raised my concerns, Nurse Brown checked the information and explained as much as she could in a thorough, patient and reassuring manner. As a result, I was armed with the knowledge I needed to make further inquiries and get a more accurate picture of my situation.

Dear patientfeedback

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your healthcare experience with us via Care Opinion.

I am glad to hear that Nurse Brown was able to provide you with information about your health history in a way that was patient and reassuring – and that this has allowed you to make further enquiries to understand your situation more clearly.

It will be my pleasure to share your kind words with Nurse Brown. Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and I know she will be really encouraged to know that you felt so well supported by her.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind regards

Pamela
