"Outpatient care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Xrays and Scans

(as the patient),

I attended QEUH for a CT scan. I only waited about 10 minutes until someone came through and called my name. I was half expecting to get a canula fitted first (there were others in the waiting room with them). However, I was taken to the room with the scanner. The person didn't really introduce themselves - they might have said 'I'm one of the doctors', I'm not sure. They weren't welcoming and then they just told me to lie down and went into the side room. I had no idea what would happen, or how long I had to lie there, they just told me to 'lie still' as they left the room.

The scan didn't take long, but I felt that if this person had explained what would happen, and displayed a bit more warmth or compassion, it would have put me at ease.

Hi Apple89,

I am sorry to learn about your experience when attending for your CT scan at the QEUH and I apologise that this has been below what would be expected for our patients. I am keen to discuss this and get a little more information so I can look in to this further.

If you would like to contact me on 0141 452 3646.

Thanks,

Gary Grayson
