"Appointment letters"

About: Leverndale Hospital / Mental Health

(as a service user),

After almost a two year wait I was finally offered an appointment for therapy a year ago. The appointment letter had a time limit on it; I must phone to confirm the appointment or the appointment will be lost.

The date on the letter meant it took 10 days for the letter to arrive. By the time I phoned I was told that the appointment was lost, and to get back in touch with my GP.

Each and every time I have to speak to someone about this I experience intrusive thoughts and feelings which can take days to recover from.

After attempting to access therapy for years, I have not been back in contact with my GP as having to speak to someone on the phone (again) about this will retraumitise me.

I have one request from Leverndale and that is they please do not send out appointment letters before public holidays to allow people the time to link in with the service.

Dear PatientA1, I am sorry to hear about your experience about receiving appointment letters and I can understand how upsetting and frustrating this must have been for you.

Would it be possible for you to contact us with more details on what clinic the appointment was for on the following email? This would help me share this feedback with the right department.

PatientExperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Many Thanks

Lucy
