After almost a two year wait I was finally offered an appointment for therapy a year ago. The appointment letter had a time limit on it; I must phone to confirm the appointment or the appointment will be lost.
The date on the letter meant it took 10 days for the letter to arrive. By the time I phoned I was told that the appointment was lost, and to get back in touch with my GP.
Each and every time I have to speak to someone about this I experience intrusive thoughts and feelings which can take days to recover from.
After attempting to access therapy for years, I have not been back in contact with my GP as having to speak to someone on the phone (again) about this will retraumitise me.
I have one request from Leverndale and that is they please do not send out appointment letters before public holidays to allow people the time to link in with the service.
