"Everyone I encountered was exceptional"

I had been putting off taking much action for an uncomfortable condition (epididymal cyst), and had been suffering on and off, for almost five years.

Finally, after a rather painful time over Christmas and into the New Year, I decided to do something about it. In reality, my family made me do something, as they were probably fed up with watching me limp around everywhere!

After a brief examination with my GP, and subsequently an urology specialist, I was given a surgery date at Grantham hospital within just over a couple of months. I was surprised how swiftly a surgery date was made available for me, so I was already off to a good start.

I had always held the belief that our NHS workers were rather special people, but this was confirmed many times over when meeting just about everybody within the surgical unit of Grantham hospital.

It would be unfair of me to compliment any singular person here, as literally everyone I encountered were so exceptional, providing a level of care and consideration I will not forget in a hurry.

I should mention here that I have lived in three countries, and I am familiar with several different healthcare structure systems, both private and state operated. Simply put, the level of care I received at Grantham surpassed anything I have witnessed elsewhere, even when paying as a private patient.

Do not judge a book by it cover. The exterior of Grantham is looking a little dated in places admittedly, but inside all was in order, clean and well maintained. The crowning glory as already mentioned, being the NHS staff themselves.

Another point worth mentioning is the amount of paperwork provided, as guidance and advice from the start to the end of the procedure. Although, a little unnerving at times to read, better to be prepared and know the risks than not.

In closing, I would kindly ask all who read this review to try to remember the difficulties NHS workers are up against at times, and attempt to show them the respect they firmly deserve. They are special people, and most of us will be needing their help at some point in our lives.
