"Physiotherapy after breaking my femur"

About: Community Physiotherapy / North Perthshire Community Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

Broke my femur in Dec 2023. Subsequently had  blood clot in the broken leg followed by rectal bleeding. This resulted in my physiotherapy not starting until January 2024.

How did I feel? The best word is helpless. I relied on my wife for essentially everything, cooking, assisting with getting clothes on and off, assisting with body wash, etc., etc.

I had the first visit from Hilary from Blairgowrie Hospital. I cannot speak too highly of her, on the first visit and in all subsequent visits, she instilled confidence in me and in my ability to do the exercises gradually increasing their difficulty.

She is very pleasant, very reliable, very encouraging, very helpful and knowledgeable and I sincerely believe that my recovery would not be progressing nearly as well had she not been managing and guiding it. She has been fantastic—and that is not an overstatement.
