About: James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Had a colonoscopy

Said fear of needles etc First nurse could not get canular in hand hurt like anything huge bruise appeared

Second nurse put cannula in arm no problem

I have never had so much pain while lady did colonoscopy pain relief did not work at all I felt it all

Someone else took over thank goodness

I've had this done once before it never hurt at all

Obviously first nurse did not know what she was doing

I hope I never have to have this done again as I 100% would not put myself through this ever again

It was so painful

Dear Patient

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experiences of having a colonoscopy. Whilst I appreciate that such procedures can be uncomfortable, I am so sorry to learn that you experienced so much pain. I have shared your feedback with the teams involved, however I would encourage you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) on 01493 453240 or via

e-mail: pals@jpaget.nhs.uk, so that we can understand better what happened on this occasion and obtain more information. Our PALS team would be happy to look into this for you

Kind Regards

Amanda Hood
