My dad had a stroke recently .He was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hyper acute stroke unit and then to rehabilitation in the Langlands building. It was a scary time as it would be for anyone, but it was particularly difficult on the day he was transferred to the rehab ward. I want to thank Kate the activity coordinator and also her colleague Marion in particular that day along with the other nursing and care staff. I remember Kate came through with her snack trolley when my dad was bed bound and offered free drinks and snacks, a much needed uplift in a difficult moment. It's lovely as well that patients that don't have families or visitors bringing in essentials have access this way to some snacks which makes a huge difference. In the days that followed, Kate and Marion lifted dad's spirits when he went to the day room with their kinds words and banter. I understand Kate keeps supplies for patients who come to hospital without essentials. I saw her and Marion doing haircuts for patients and doing manicures. Other staff members were also very kind and going the extra mile and I'm sorry I cannot mention all your names.
