"Care in the day room, ward 56 and 57 Stroke Rehab, Queen Elizabeth Hospital"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

My dad had a stroke recently .He was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hyper acute stroke unit and then to rehabilitation in the Langlands building. It was a scary time as it would be for anyone, but it was particularly difficult on the day he was transferred to the rehab ward. I want to thank Kate the activity coordinator and also her colleague Marion in particular that day along with the other nursing and care staff. I remember Kate came through with her snack trolley when my dad was bed bound and offered free drinks and snacks, a much needed uplift in a difficult moment. It's lovely as well that patients that don't have families or visitors bringing in essentials have access this way to some snacks which makes a huge difference. In the days that followed, Kate and Marion lifted dad's spirits when he went to the day room with their kinds words and banter. I understand Kate keeps supplies for patients who come to hospital without essentials. I saw her and Marion doing haircuts for patients and doing manicures. Other staff members were also very kind and going the extra mile and I'm sorry I cannot mention all your names.

Dear vegafd39,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your fathers recent stay in Ward 56. Kate & Marion our activity coordinators in Stroke Rehabilitation go above and beyond. I will pass on your kind comments to them. We wish you father all the best in his stroke rehabilitation.

Kind Regards,

Rebecca Fulton, Lead Nurse Older People & Stroke Services
