Admitted to AAU on the Friday, stayed in a bed there until the Tuesday evening & then moved to a ward. One MRI scan given on the Tuesday.
No wonder there is a bed shortage when the process takes this long. Both times my Mum has been put in a ward she has been put in an extra bed in the corner without a TV or a buzzer. This is no good as she has mobility issues, requires assistance and there is no space for her zimmer frame.
No communication from staff to us, her family. Have to beg to get someone to speak to us. Some staff speaking to my Mum as if she is stupid, assuming that because she is elderly she is not an individual.
As she has 2 separate health issues and the whole process is not joined up.
I completely understand how under pressure and busy the staff are, but no one ever seems accountable. A few small changes could make such a difference to elderly patients.
