"All staff did their utmost for me"

About: Enhanced Care / Community Stroke Team Lurgan Hospital / Ward 2

(as the patient),

I was in hospital for 11 weeks and all ward staff were very good on ward 2. I was not too keen on the food, the menu was too repetitive, same every week.

I then was discharged and had community Stroke team out to see to me at home. Shannon the Physio, Helen the OT, Lisa the social worker, Mary & Tara were all fantastic and did the utmost for me on my road to recovery, Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent admission to Hospital.

It is delightful to read you have found staff to be very good. The key skills delivered by staff are essential to deliver high quality person centred care which you have experienced.

Nutrition is important to optimise your energy levels through your rehab journey and If made known to Nurse in Charge we could of helped you enjoy your meals better. Family/Relatives are welcome to bring in food, have it labelled and stored in Fridge. The trust advises against ready-made meals and food that requires heating as these food types pose risk of listeria.

I will ensure to share your kind feedback with the team.

I hope you continue to rehab well!

Kind Regards

Donna O’Neill

Senior Nurse

Hello

thank you for sharing your experience both in Lurgan hospital and with community stroke.

You have raised a really important point about menu choices for those in hospital for longer periods and it does have quite in impact on recovery. We will be working with our catering colleagues to improve the meal choices available.

I'm delighted to hear you've made good progress with the community stroke team and I will pass on your appreciation to Shannon, Helen, Lisa, Mary and Tara in particular. I hope you continue to make a good recovery.

Following on from this feedback, we are implementing changes to our menus in Lurgan Hospital to give greater choice especially for those patients who are with us for longer periods of time
