" rehabilitation ward StLukes"

About: St Lukes Hospital (Bradford)

My dad was on rehabilitation ward for 7 weeks, after a fall at home, injuring his hip. He had mild dementia, practically blind and deaf.

His care was terrible.

Despite telling staff he needed help with eating and drinking, he never seemed to get this, despite being asked for many times.

He became incontinent as he lost his mobility whilst in there.

Several pressure sores and infections later he was discharged home to care of my mum who has bad mobility.

To cut a long story short, readmittance....discharge to care home where he passed away, frail with lack of nourishment and totally incontinent.

Hi my name is Catherine and part of my role is responding to posts on Care Opinion.

Apologies for the delay in responding to your post I have been on leave.

It is very disappointing to hear the issues you have detailed about your Dads care on the rehabilitation ward, this is not the standard of care we aim to provide.

I am sorry to hear your Dad subsequently passed away after admission to a care home, please accept my condolences.

As it is very difficult to investigate the issues you have raised without further information, I would encourage you to contact our Patient Experience Service (PALS) on 01274 364810 or by emailing patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for raising your concerns.

As a Trust we strive to provide a high level of care and patient well being and value all feedback, positive or negative, as a way to drive improvements to our services.

Kind regards

Catherine Healy
