"Being told it wasn’t the right surgery for me."

About: County Hospital Louth / Endoscopy County Hospital Louth / General surgery Skegness & District General Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

Went in for surgery for my hernia which caused me to have acid and what I was led to believe a pain in my stomach which caused bloating. I reported this to the doctors and consultant . I was in the room with the surgeon just before my op for them to tell me that one of my symptoms may improve but my main symptom, the bloating, will not change but could get worse.

In the 3 and half years since it first started and I got in contact with my doctor I’ve had different medication, seen and had conversations with different doctors, had multiple tests, seen a consultant, and last of all having the conversation with the surgeon - to end up not having the surgery and me just walking out like it’s a normal thing that happens. I feel the way this has been dealt with is disgusting and worrying.
