I have recently given birth to my beautiful baby girl and felt compelled to leave feedback for the excellent care and experience I had when visiting the maternity assessment unit in Ninewells.
My pregnancy started off low risk, until I developed high blood pressure and had to attend every 4 days for a blood pressure profile. I was very anxious and felt let down by my body. However, these thoughts soon changed when I went to the hospital.
Every member of staff I met was welcoming. I was looked after at most visits by a midwife called Jen and she was an angel in a uniform. I even hoped that she would be on for my appointments. She made a very stressful time a lot easier. She knew my history, follow up plans and when my blood pressure was high, ensured it was treated immediately. The fact she made the effort to see me at each visit made me feel at ease and I felt confident I was being well looked after. Pauline also popped her head in to say hello, as she looked after me too on a couple of visits. They both made me laugh with wee jokes between them and stories.
The assessment unit was always busy, but Jen never rushed me and an added bonus (for my wife haha) was that she always remembered our tea/coffee preferences and made them for us. It’s these little things that add to a good experience.
I can only say thank you again, even then it doesn’t seem enough. We saw how busy you were, but never once did it impact on our care. I don’t think these midwives will truly understand the impact they made on our experience. We certainly won’t forget ❤️
