"I feel the need for more doctors"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit (MAU)

(as the patient),

I was feeling ill and my GP told me to go to RAH A&E. I arrived, they assessed me and said Dr in MAU wanted to see me.

I waited 50 minutes for porter to take me to ward .When I arrived there it was very very busy I had to sit in corridor as waiting room was full.

I was taken for an x-ray. I was waiting for a doctor along with lots of other people. Nursing staff asked everyone if they wanted tea or coffee and a sandwich

I saw the night shift doctor after examination, told me I would  have to be admitted overnight. There was no beds in the ward available for me so they had to bring a bed for me into triage room.

I feel sorry for the medical staff, especially the doctor, as there was only one doctor on duty in this department. I cannot praise medical enough, they were very kind and hard working. I feel the need for more doctors  in this department as this is a very long stressful time to wait.

I do not like to complain but I thought this should be told to let management  be aware of this.

Dear Johnstone Boy

Thank you for sharing your recent experience on Care Opinion and I hope you are feeling better.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the length of time you waited for a bed. I would like to assure you this is not the experience we want to provide for our patients, we are currently experiencing significant demand on our services and we are working tirelessly to improve and prevent patient experiences such as the one you have described.

Thank you for your kind comments about our staff, who are working exceptionally hard in difficult circumstances.

Take Care

Nicole
