Anything else?
My 2 year old had a seizure at the weekend and we were taken to the accident and emergency department at the Lancaster Royal Infirmary. We were treated well, seen quite promptly and the care he received was adequate and most of the staff very helpful and friendly. My little boy has been diagnosed with a speech delay and some fine motor skill delays, I relayed this to the Doctor at A and E as I wanted them to be aware of any potential underlying neurological condition that may contribute to seizures. At the end of the A and E assessment the Doctor asked me if there were any other medical conditions other than his "mental retardation". I found this remark to be offensive and upsetting. Thankfully my son was asleep and did not hear this remark. I think that some staff development is called for.
