My 5 yr old son attended ward 15 for a day surgery last week, the care was exceptional. He has additional needs which was going to make this experience even more difficult but I shouldn't have worried, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that everything was done to make sure he was as calm and happy as possible.
Wendy his nurse was great with him, happy and upbeat, explaining and showing him what was happening and checking in regularly.
Shona the anaesthetist was amazing. She explained what was going to happen and listened to my opinions and preferences.
Her compassion and understanding in how to deal with his additional needs and her instinct in how/when to do things without doubt made the day much less stressful for both myself and my son. I felt truly reassured to know that she was looking after him.
