"I was shocked by the notices"

About: The Great Western Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a service user),

My father was put on teal ward and when I visited him I was shocked to see "older person" and "short stay" notices, considering my dad was very poorly and sadly died the next day.

I was offended when I saw this, it made me think that they clearly knew my dad was dying but didn’t inform the family of this.

We are sorry that you were displeased with the signage, unfortunately we must be able to differentiate the departments, and we are a short stay unit for older adults. We take concerns seriously, if you would like us to look into this further, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service by emailing gwh.pals@nhs.net or calling 01793 604031.
