"Casualty receptionist"

About: Emergency department / Unscheduled Care

(as the patient),

I had to attend casualty recently because I was unwell. I was so afraid but my partner dropped me off to park the car. I was visibly upset but when I got to the reception desk a girl I later found out called Jodie met me with the biggest friendliest smile. I started crying because I was on my own and unwell but she immediately made me feel at ease.

She was so caring and told me she would look after me until my partner came back. She spoke to a nurse or doctor and quickly found out I wasn't supposed to be at casualty but on a ward so she got me a wheelchair and transferred me herself. The whole way she spoke to me about her positive experience on the ward and even made me laugh! From the time I walked into casualty to getting into a bed on the ward was 20 minutes thanks to this girl, she treated me like I was her own family. Thank you Jodie, I hope I didn't get your name wrong.
