"I left with a second chance at life"

About: Addiction services / The Asha Centre

(as a service user),

As an alcoholic living in the Southern Trust I was referred to ASHA in Omagh. While it was a scary and anxious time away from my family for 4 weeks, I found the dual approach of family involvement and medical detox supervision to be mega successful in my rehabilitation. We need more of these services in our country and I left Asha with a second chance at life (when it was headed in totally the wrong direction). But for their intervention I would have been a drain on the NHS in a much bigger way. Let alone the cost to social services that my family would have been casualties to.

Thanks for taking the time to share your positive experience from being in Asha. I am delighted that you feel you have a second chance at life and I wish you well in recovery. I hope your time in Asha has provided an opportunity in offering change and reflection and support towards recovery.
