"My Dad"

About: GPs in Stockport The Christie Wythenshawe Hospital / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as a relative),

My Dad was diagnosed with tongue Cancer in his 80s. The Drs and team at Maxfax dept at Wythenshawe were so understanding with us, we were seen quickly from consultation to diagnosis to referral to Christies.

Although very little could be done for my Dad, they worked to give him some treatment to avoid a painful death. Everything was explained clearly and delivered with the utmost care and respect. We were overwhelmed with grief but the MacMillan team helped us through everything. The Drs at Cheadle Medical were so good with my Dad over the years too, especially Dr Shah and Dr Mahmoud.

Palliative care was set up for Dad and although he didn’t get to use it, the district nurses that came to see him watched him closely and communicated well with the drs.

My Dad passed nearly a year to the date he had been given 6-12 months . Although we are devastated as a family, we rest in the knowledge that he had the best care by the NHS and the MacMillan team and we feel blessed that the Lord  took him before he started to really suffer.

Thank you for your positive comments posted on the Care Opinion website regarding the care you received at Maxillo-Facial Surgery in Wythenshawe Hospital and The Christie.

It was very kind of you to take the time to write and compliment the staff as it is always good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to read that you thought that the staff were caring and respectful during throughout the time your Dad was receiving treatment.

I can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to the Matron who will share your comments the staff involved.

Yours sincerely

Sasha Khosah
