"Couldn't have done it without their help"

About: CGL Birmingham / Central & West Hub

(as a service user),

I started using CGL in 2023, I have had an issue with alcohol I think for most of my life. At my worst I was drinking close to 2 whiskey bottles a night. So since starting the group activities at CXW Hub I've followed through with their recommendations and advice, I have now been completely sober for over 2 months. I couldn't of done it without their help.

Dear firepy55

Thank you so much for getting in touch with us.

I'm Lydia and I am responsible for listening and responding to people's feedback.

It sounds like you have made some absolutely amazing changes to your life and like your alcohol use has been been a real challenge for a significant period of time. I can't begin to imagine how much of an impact it must have been having on you, especially when you were drinking 2 bottles of whiskey per night. 2 months of abstinence is an amazing achievement, and well done for making such a huge change!

I will make sure that the team who deliver our group support at our Central & West Hub get to read your feedback and I am sure they will really appreciate learning how much their support has helped you.

It can be really hard to get into recovery, and it's only possible if people are willing to put the hard effort in and be open to listening to advice and putting it into action. It sounds like you have absolutely done this, and I hope you feel proud of the strength and commitment you have shown to make the changes you have made possible.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences and I wish you all the very best for your future.

Take care,

Lydia
