"Can't thank speech therapist enough"

Due to a deterioration in my speech Karen from the speech and language therapy adult service came to see me last year.

After a careful assessment of my condition, she agreed that as my preferred means of communication was verbal I should continue with it but with some improvements. She explained and demonstrated various ways that this could be achieved eg. pronouncing the subject clearly at the beginning, phrasing, breathing techniques etc.

Karen went on to discuss low tech communications, which included aids, alphabet charts and white boards.

Karen also assured me that there were lots of aids which could help me should my condition worsen. Her patience in explaining and demonstrating the various low and high tech aids was very welcomed.

Karen's visit left me much more relaxed and positive about the future, and I can't begin to thank her enough for all her help and understanding.
