I needed to see my GP (Strathmore Surgery) about a health concern that was impacting on my life. I was able to make a fairly quick appointment to see the GP of my choice. I could have seen a doctor sooner if I hadn't chosen to wait a little to see the one who knows me best. She was, as always, attentive and responsive and she arranged a variety of tests that are all to be completed within 1 week.
The ECG was taken by the nurse at the surgery the next day, fast, friendly, reassuring and efficient.
I chose to use PRI drop-in for the x-ray. A busy department but I was taken in within a minute and done and out within 5 minutes. Again, fast and friendly staff. Really exceptional
When I returned home I had an appointment at the cottage hospital for bloods to be taken. Again, no waiting. The friendly and helpful member of staff was even prepared to answer my questions about the blood tests and to look up one that was unfamiliar to both of us.
I have an upcoming appointment for spirometry at the surgery. This means I will have had a full range of investigations, completed locally in most cases, and quickly, by skilled and friendly people.
This is the NHS at its very best. Real people doing a very good job - and not behind a telephone or computer screen. And I must mention the friendly and helpful reception staff at the surgery who made some of these appointments for me.
"Fast, friendly, reassuring and efficient"
