"IUS (Mirena) Insertion"

About: Sexual Health Services - South Staffordshire (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

This was my first insertion of any internal contraception device so safe to say i was nervous about the procedure. I dealt with one nurse and two doctors who were all incredible. They were really friendly and put me at ease. It is a little weird having conversations during the procedure, but honestly it was much better than lying there silent so thank you! The actual process itself was fine: urine sample, height, weight, and blood pressure with the nurse. On to the doctors and some further questions relevant to contraception. I was offered the option of a local anesthetic spray which I gladly took. The actual insertion was mostly just a little bit uncomfortable with mild cramps, and a sharper jolt of pain towards the end. Overall it was completely fine and I am incredibly pleased with the service!

Hi Charaxc36,

My name is Andrew and I am a Senior Administrator for the Open Clinic and part of my role is to respond to Care Opinion feedback. I would firstly like to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback which does mean a lot to our team and is an important contribution to learning and service improvement.

I am pleased that you had no issues during your IUS fitting and that the staff put you at ease. 🙂

Kind regards,
