Following a diagnosis of LPL, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, I have had to have regular blood tests throughout my treatment (Mar to Oct 2023) and for periodic check ups since then. I have been looked after very well each time by the phlebotomy team who visit Moyle hospital in Larne. I think this is an essential service as it not only removes a task from the busy local health centre, but also ensures a high level of expertise in dealing with taking blood samples. I have found the procedure quick and relatively painless. The staff are diligent in "getting it right" - paying attention to labels, bottles, etc - which means all of the important results are available to my consultant when required. Also they have a friendly, reassuring manner. Without the phlebotomy team, I would be required to attend an already busy treatment room in the local surgery where in my opinion the blood tests would not be done in such a quick, painless manner as the phlebotomists can do. Long may this specialist service continue!
