The last few years through various life circumstances my drink and drug habit spiralled out of control and I could not keep up with it. This affected my mental and physical health and financially. I lost so much in my life.
I approached my GP and they referred me to 'We are with you' This took a number of years for me to engage. After engagement I went through the triage process and was then referred to DCDS within 8 months.
I found compassion here and was welcomed and eased on arrival. Staff are engaging and I felt valued. Medical treatment was excellent & the accommodation was very good.
The only thing that would have improved my stay would have been access to fitness equipment. Also I do think people should be allowed to settle in before meetings.
I do feel quite anxious about leaving.
