I wanted to write to say thank you to the staff who delt with me in minor injuries recently.
I had a fall down a couple of steps and really hurt my ankle, so I went to A&E in Wishaw.
I gave my details to the member of staff on reception, who was to be honest quite rude to me, I found their manner to be awful.
Then I sat down and waited to be seen, I brought a book and something to eat as I know how long the waiting times can be.
Imagine my surprise when I was called through a door just ten minutes after I arrived and was taken in by a lovely nurse whose name escapes me - I’m sorry I know they told me but I can’t remember.
The nurse said to me it’s the new minor injuries service and they do their best to make sure people are seen as soon as they can.
The nurse looked me over then got me a wheelchair and I was taken by a lovely, one of the other nurses but with a different uniform, up to X-ray. Where I was x-rayed and sent back to the place I’d been seen.
I was told I’ve got a broken ankle but it’s not too bad, I’ve just to wear a boot for a few weeks. The boot was fitted by a nurse and another nurse gave me some leaflets and painkillers to take home.
I was seen and home within an hour and a half - the delay was waiting for ages to be X-rayed.
This is a marvellous service and I am very grateful to the lovely team in the minor injury department. Thank you, I’m well on the mend now.
"This is a marvellous service"
