My baby was born recently & came straight to the neonatal ICU in Craigavon Area Hospital. Later that day she was diagnosed with sepsis as a result of an infection prior to delivery. This was devastating news to receive as parents & was our darkest hour.
The care from the staff for both ourselves & my baby that day & onwards to today has been exceptional. My baby was given a targeted antibiotic immediately & this helped her infection numbers to start to come down after a couple of days. Her sisters & brother both met her & read her some stories during which she opened her eyes & reacted to their voices, this proved to be a key turning point for her recovery.
We had begun to travel away from the darkness & into the light on her journey. After 4 days she was switched from ventilation to sipap as she began her road to recovery. Throughout her journey we were kept informed of each step & what tests / treatments were ahead by the great staff on the ward.
Her journey continued & still carries on in the HDU of the neonatal ward as she has now gone down to lo flo support & continues to steadily improve day by day. The help & support of all the staff - & in particular the motto to never give up as each day is a new milestone - was of great comfort to both her mummy & daddy on her journey.
Words of thanks are simply not enough credit to the wonderful team that have cared & continue to care for her, but thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
"Thanks from the bottom of our hearts"
