"I found the staff friendly and helpful"

About: Dame Carol Detoxification Service

(as a service user),

Due to past circumstances, this led me to drinking on a regular basis.

Around 2021 I realised I had a drinking problem and I was also medically advised I had an issue. 

I was referred by CGL in 2024 for de-tox, I was initially resistant through fear and the stigma around it. My Recover Worker assured me this was the right treatment for me and I attended DCDS. 

I found the staff friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and the chef was accommodating. It was a nice, safe environment. I found  some of the support and wellbeing classes difficult, but I feel they really helped me.

I am apprehensive but hopeful, I feel that the fog has lifted and I am proud of myself.
