"You all deserve a medal"

About: Day Surgery / Day Surgery Surgical University Hospital Hairmyres / Elective Orthopaedics (Ward 7) University Hospital Hairmyres / Physiotherapy University Hospital Hairmyres / Theatres, Recovery & Anaesthetics

(as the patient),

After waiting a long time to get my knee replaced I went into the hospital feeling so nervous but I can’t believe how amazing all the staff were. From the minute I went into day surgery until I was discharged every member of staff treated me with such kindness. Nothing was a bother for anyone despite how busy the ward was.

All the staff in day surgery, operating rooms, ward 7 and physio are brilliant. All the nurses were great and I especially have to thank the physios. Despite my pain and fear they managed to put me at ease and gave me the reassurance I needed to allow me to get up out of bed hours after my operation. I managed to get home the next day as they gave me the confidence that I needed. I have a new lease of life thanks to Mr Howie and his team.

I’m sorry I don’t remember everyone’s names but a special thanks to Stacy, Lindsay and Ann my nurses, Cathlene and Laura my physios and Magda for all of her cups of tea. You all deserve a medal.

Dear capellaww55

Thank you for sharing your lovely feedback. I am delighted to read that your surgery has gone well and despite your anxieties you made excellent progress to be disccharged home the following day.

It is so difficult when there is a long wait for surgery as this is of course distressing. It sounds as though you worked really well with the physiotherapy and wider team. The staff mentioned will very much appreciate your kind words and positive comments. I will share this with all the staff mentioned as well as all departments involved.

Your enthusiasm clearly comes across in your reflection and will be welcomed by all.

Thank you again.

I wish ongoing progress in your recovery.

Kind regards

Lise
