"Made our time on the ward so much more bearable"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My 13 month old was in hospital for 5 days with pneumonia, which was enormously stressful. The first few days he was listless, had no interest in anything, and mostly just slept. We were so relieved when he started to perk up and show interest in eating and playing again but we were met with a new challenge - how to entertain a boisterous one year old within the confines of his hospital ward!

Thank goodness for the play team. They visited us at his bed space and let us know about all the toys and activities available for him. When he was well enough to visit the play room on the ward, it was an absolute god send. The play staff were wonderful and they made our time on the ward so much more bearable.

Thank you and please keep up the good work!

Dear KMreviews,

First of all, I’m sorry that your son had to spend time in hospital, it must have been a stressful time for you all. I am glad that some of the play Team helped to alleviate some of this stress and help your son with his recovery using play.

Thank you for taking the time to post this story and I will ensure the play team members concerned see this lovely feedback. I am sure they too will appreciate you taking the time to do so.

kind regards

Margaret McEwan
