I went in in the morning to have my second knee replacement surgery done in the afternoon. From the moment I went in to this fantastic new facility I received first class treatment and care.
The nurse Denise took me through all the paperwork and having had the same procedure on my other knee done 15 weeks previously, it was a case of just updating my paperwork for changes rather than starting from scratch. The consultant and his fellow surgeon and anaesthetist all came to explain in person what would be happening. The theatre team Layla and the other gentleman were so friendly and reassuring and my preference for general anaesthetic was agreed to. Post operative care was first class. HCSW, Susan went above and beyond in terms of making my stay a happy one. Other staff- and I will apologise in advance for missing anyone out, but I can’t remember all the names or job titles- Denise (again) Lynsey, Charmaine, Morgan, OT, Physio and SNP went out of their way to explain everything that was going on, did I have any questions.
It was a first class experience and I can’t thank them enough and if the second knee is as good as the first I will be delighted.
Only criticism I would make was the hour one of the nurses had to spend with me at X-ray. That was very efficient but there were only 2 porters for the whole hospital on the Sunday and it seemed a waste of staff time having to be out of the ward for so long.
