About: South West Acute Hospital / Stroke Services

(as the patient),

I had an appointment in the TIA Clinic in SWAH after an episode that my husband and I thought had probably  been a panic attack.The specialist nurse called Sheila took me under her wing and listened to me with great patience  all through my rather random answers to the many questions. The doctor was lovely too . Sheila told me what was going to happen on the next stage of the journey. She was understanding of what I had gone through too. We were in SWAH for a long time that day but always felt we had a friend in Sheila.

It was the simple truth Sheila, you really did help….The sheet that was written out longhand for me, I took that with me to the Surgery appointment for the blood test and the pharmacy for the new medication just to make sure I got it right! Thank you so much.

Yes I am continuing to do well and another step along the way was taken when Sinead from the Community Stroke Team came to assess how I was doing and offer advice on diet and exercise among other things. She too was very kind and supportive. Thank you Sinead!
