"Extremely grateful to all members of staff"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Golden Jubilee National Hospital / General Surgery Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Outpatients Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Pre-Op Assessments Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology (Ward 32)

(as the patient),

In 2023 following ultrasound and CT scans it was discovered  I was suffering from a large ovarian cyst, a lesion on my left lung and two lesions on pancreas.  I was away from home at the time and on my return contacted my GP requesting an urgent referral to hospital.  My  initial treatment by my GP can only be described as poor with a failure to include details and images from scans when making referrals to hospital.

While waiting for an outpatient appointment a month down the line I attended A&E at my local hospital due to severe pain.  My condition was immediately treated as serious and I received excellent care.

I underwent surgery at the Royal Alexandria Hospital, Paisley, to remove the cyst and have a full hysterectomy.  This year I underwent further surgery at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clydebank to remove the upper left lobe of my lung.  During the surgery a frozen section was sent to the lab who confirmed a cancer was present. Biopsies were taken from surrounding lymph nodes, the results of which have proven negative.

The care I have received from both hospitals both pre and post surgery can only  be described as excellent.  Every member of staff treated me with care and understanding.  The consultants from both hospitals have taken the time to telephone me to discuss my treatment and to advise me on my progress  post op.  Specialist nurses keep in touch by telephone and are always available to answer any questions about my recovery.

I have had a letter from the department dealing with the lesions on my pancreas assuring me that the treatment I have been receiving so far was most urgent and that  there is no immediate concern about the lesions on my pancreas.  This is to be followed up by a telephone consultation some time soon.

I am extremely grateful to all members of staff at both hospitals.
