After being told his PSA levels had shot up in Oct, my father - who is in his 90s - was not given a CT Scan by Fife NHS. Only while staying with me in England where his fatigue was very dominant did he have blood tests and a CT scan which showed his prostate cancer had spread.
An urgent referral was then organised via his GP in Fife. When we attended an appointment at Kirkcaldy Hospital Urology Team, it was clear nobody knew about the CT Scan and blood test results as a completely different procedure was planned (due to a separate referral about blood in his urine).
After a conversation and showing the report from England to the Urology Consultant, the procedure was cancelled and they commenced the referral that should have been done.
There has still been no referral or follow up CT Scan from Fife NHS, who told us they are now requesting the original CT Scan from England.
The appointment we had in Feb was a complete waste of time for all Fife NHS staff and my elderly father. I have to ask why the request for a CT scan from England was not done in mid Jan rather than mid Feb?
We have received no communication from Dad's GP during the entire period.
