After a positive bowel cancer test, I was booked for a colonoscopy at Treliske Hospital. This sent my anxiety levels very high and required extra medication just to get there.
Once booked in I was still very anxious as I waited for my colonoscopy, although the preparation nurse was very comforting. When I went into the room and was asked to lay on the trolley my anxieties started to fade.
From that time, I felt little or no anxiety as I was with an extremely accomplished team. A team that had a lot of empathy and kept me informed throughout. It is a long time since I have felt that secure and confident so was able to relax more and let them do their job.
I can only give my thanks, which seems so little to me, to the team that helped that day.
"My anxiety was reduced by an empathic and capable team"
