"Top notch from start to finish"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Medical Day Case Unit

(as a service user),

Last Friday I attended Newlyn unit for an biopsy. I was put at ease by the staff who checked me in and there was a comfortable place to wait.

It was a little while before things started but Dr Rogers gave a very clear idea of how the procedure would be done and the subsequent recovery process. She did of course explain all the possible problems that could arise. This was all done in both a professional but caring way.

The team doing the procedure were great, sorry I cant remember their names. They helped to keep me relaxed but kept me informed all along.

Thanks to the great teamwork and Dr Roger's skill the procedure went well and a good biopsy sample was obtained in one go.

The recovery team were great and looked after me well. As with a procedure of this type there had been some internal bleeding which became apparent after careful checks. Although I was due to  be discharged in the late afternoon, Dr Rogers got a CT scan arranged to properly assess the situation and on checking with her colleague very wisely decided that I should be kept in  overnight for observation to ensure everything was OK. I was very pleased she erred on the side of caution. A year or so ago when I was in after a serious post TURP op complication  I had a terrible experience on the ward I was put on and discharged prematurely - with a serious problem that had developed while being discharged. That led to a lot of subsequent problems. On this occasion the care of everyone, and especially Dr Rogers, was top notch from start to finish. The staff on Wheal Cotes ward were great as well. Caring, professional but so friendly and helpful.

It's a real pleasure for me to leave a full positive feedback.

The only small negative was food. The evening meal I had while waiting to be moved to Wheal Cotes was really nice, tasty sweet & sour chicken. Breakfast OK but the coffee the worst I have had ever. (Like IK Brunels description of the notorious coffee at Swindon station's refreshment room room!) Lunch a bit cold. But meals apart everything else 5* positive.

Dear RobinG,

Thank you for taking time to feedback your care experiences. On behalf of Clinical Imaging at RCHT, I will ensure this feedback gets back to the Newlyn team and directly to Dr Rogers.

Sending our best wishes,

Glenda Shaw

Thank you.

For me it is always a pleasure and delight when I can send positive feedback. I know from practical experience when I do a good conscientious wok on something I was responsible for until recently, how much it means when some folks take the time to express their appreciation - when the majority just take it for granted.

Robin
