"Hospital services abysmal incl dosa, ent, a&e,…"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

This hospitals abysmal. Suppose to have an operation last october on day of surgery it got cancelled because they found something that didn’t think was safe even tho the results of it 2 weeks prior in the first place I was told they were fine. they changed their mind half an hour before I was due to be put under. So re-scheduled… had my major ear operation 2 weeks ago… the whole thing was disgusting from start to finish. day of surgery (dosa) women at the front desk was rude, staff made my anxiety worse on the dosa ward. after surgery was moved to ward c33 never again. A different nurse would come in each time, pressing the buzzer as I was bleeding heavily from operation & it needed to be cleaned it was either ignored or to be told someone will be with you each time no one turned up an hour would pass I had to press the buzzer yet again to ask. The nurse that came in to help me go to the toilet she looked more frail than me & couldn’t even hold me properly. so I ended up going to the toilet on my own after that which I really shouldn’t have been. the next day I begged for painkillers for 5 hours as I hadn’t had any in 8 hours, I was crying no sympathy at all. I kept pressing the buzzer they kept palming me off. they then said you are going home this afternoon. I said I didn’t feel right & wasn’t ready at all, to be told another doctor would look at me before discharge. no one did, heard nothing for hours for a nurse to come in the room & say right your going home. I asked about a doctor to see me again she palmed me off said I was fine. not even 5 mins later another staff member comes in tells me to move off bed into a chair so she strip the bed ready for the next person. pretty sure no one even knew I left the ward when my partner came to get me because there was no one around. I was still bleeding heavily from the sight of the operation I knew it wasn’t normal. for a few days later to be in severe pain I went to a&e sat for 13 hours even though it wasn’t busy at all, test after test to finally be told that it was infected the sight of the operation go to the pharmacy to get antibiotics. they couldn’t figure out where my other pain was coming from. sat in the pharmacy an hour just to get 1 thing absolutely ridiculous. a&e staff were also rude didn’t do bloods properly the first time had to be done 3 times in a row. When I stated that I’ve just had an operation I couldn’t keep my eyes open I was that exhausted I was told well you can check yourself out. No sympathy, concerns or anything I was so close to just going home after 6 hours but I’m pleased I stayed as my infection couldve turned into sepsis. (family member convinced me to stay to get checked) Now I’m still waiting for my follow up appointment as dressing are suppose to be removed after 2 weeks asked if I had an appointment yet as one hasn’t came out in the post nothing. Clearly been forgotten about. I will never have another operation at this hospital & will avoid a&e if possible.
