"My father"

About: General practices in Tayside Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as a relative),

My father had been ill for quite sometime and had been seen by several professionals before Dr Strachan came to visit him at home. Dr Strachan gave my father a thorough examination and also listened to my concerns.

Dr Strachan asked our opinion of whether my father's partner would manage but we declined this due to the amount of falls he was having. Dr Strachan called the ward in Ninewells to book a bed, and arrange an ambulance which arrived very quickly.

Thanks so much as I really feel if he had been left any longer without a proper examination my father would not be alive today. He ended up with a severe kidney infection, blood infection, heart infection and has been in Ninewells for the past month.

Dear debzhendo

Thank you for sharing your story. It has obviously been a very worrying time for you so I am heartened to read that you are happy with the prompt care that your father received.

Should you have any feedback regarding the Scottish Ambulance Service could I ask you to contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your father's name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope your father is beginning to recover.

Kindest regards

David

Dear debzhendo

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about Dr Strachan visiting your father at home and listening to the concerns of your family, and the person-centred approach used to make the decision to treat your father in hospital.

Feedback is very valuable to all areas of the NHS, and I'm sure Dr Strachan and the staff at the practice will be delighted to hear that your family's experience was positive. Unfortunately, GP practices are not part of Care Opinion at this time, as each GP Practice is an independent business. So that they can see your feedback, we would recommend that you feedback your experience directly to the practice to allow this to be passed on to Dr Strachan. The Practice Manager can give you with details of how to provide this feedback to them, as per their Complaints and Feedback Policy.

With best wishes

Victoria Sullivan
