"Emergency injections"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I went into Wishaw General Hospital A&E. It was a GP referral as an expected adrenal crisis.

When I signed in I tried to show the lassies at the desk my red steroid card. She quite dismissively said that I was there as a GP referral and it wasn’t her job to deal with me. I had to chap the door to speak to the nurse to be triaged. I did ask them about my emergency injections but they said they didn’t know what Addison's was and just laughed it off anyways. After 6 hours of waiting they refused to give me a needle for my emergency jag even though I had my jag still in the box with my name on it.

Dear jupiterwb57,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Wishaw, Emergency Department.

I am so sorry to hear of the experience you had trying to get your emergency injections. I am disappointed to hear that the receptionist was dismissive when you were trying to explain and that the triage nurse did not know what Addison's was and after a long wait you were unable to get a needle to take your injection.

We always want to make things better for patients,

Can I please ask you to contact University Hospital Wishaw Patient Affairs so they can understand all the issues in more detail, and get back to you personally.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
