This week for the first time ever my son fractured his foot. He has been such a brave boy and other than being non weight bearing on that foot you wouldn't have knew.
I brought him to Lagan valley urgent care and it was understandably busy but I felt that the whole examination of him and explanation of what happened to him was extremely rushed. There was no real time given to explain what happened, then while his foot was being strapped someone stood outside and stared in as they needed the space for another patient. I know everywhere is so busy but I left with no information on what I should or shouldn't do for him. My son was given the option for a full cast or strapping as the department didn't keep paediatric boots, but they said I could try somewhere else myself.
I did get in contact with the Ulster minor injuries to source a boot and they were absolutely wonderful. They were so good with him and gave him so much care and attention. The deputy sister (I wish I could remember her name) was wonderful and the doctor was also great. They had his notes checked over and looked at his x-rays and had him in a boot in no time. They also did a fracture referral of some sort (can't quite remember what though). I left confident in how to look after him and his injury.
I just wanted to post to really thank the Ulster minor Injuries for being so helpful with him!
