"The concern and care I have had is outstanding"

(as the patient),

I have lumbar spondylosis which means that sometimes it's difficult to walk, sit, stand, carry things. I have had a lot of pain and it's been getting worse over the last few weeks.

On Tuesday I decided to revisit my GP. She was concerned enough to phone orthopaedics who asked me to go to A & E immediately. I was seen and admitted for care and an urgent, fasted MRI scan.

Thankfully the condition they thought I had progressed to, cauda equina compression, hadn't happened and I didn't need immediate surgery, hence the fasting.

I was discharged yesterday afternoon with more specialist physio to be planned. I had a phone call today, Thursday, at before noon with a physio appointment in the afternoon. I am doing all that can be done and he is very happy with the progress I have made since he saw me last May, except.... I am doing too much and need to listen to my body more and stop or rest when there is more pain.

My next port of call is rest and a GP visit to discuss recent medication. I have had the best treatment ever. The concern and care I have had is outstanding and to be commended.

Thank you to my GP, A & E at FVRH, orthopaedic doctors and neurology, MRI scanner staff and ward B12, AAU2, and physiotherapy.

Dear Maryf409, thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback from your recent visit. I am sorry to hear of you becoming unwell and requiring emergency care. I am heartened to hear the positive experience across all the areas you had interaction with. I am glad to hear it was not as sever as initially thought. The staff will be pleased to hear the feedback as this is the service we aspire to deliver for all our patients.

Wishing you a speedy recovery - and listen to your body.

Yours sincerely

Dr David Watson
