"Fracture clinic and x-ray too far apart"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Why is the fracture clinic at the opposite end of the hospital from the xray department? This is so inconvenient for people with leg/ankle injuries.

I attended the clinic after having ankle surgery only to be told I had to go for an xray. Thankfully I had someone with me who could take me in a chair however there were people in the waiting area (which is a main corridor which is ridiculous) waiting 1.5hrs for a porter.

Dear Natalie,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion of University Hospital Wishaw, Trauma and Orthopaedics.

I am sorry to hear that you had to attend the fracture clinic. I hope you are recovering well from your injury. I am unsure why the fracture clinic has been located such a distance from our x-ray department. I can understand why this would be very difficult for those with leg or ankle injuries.

I will highlight this to the service manager and ask that he review this for future. I know that doesn't help with your recent visit but we appreciate your feedback and hope that we can make things better for patients going forward.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
