"There is a friendly ethos and superb care"

About: The Knoll Hospital / Older people's care (inpatient)

(as a service user),

I was a patient in this cottage hospital for 4 months. I required rehabilitation following a fractured tibia.

If one has to be in hospital, this small 24-bedded hospital is the place to be. There is a friendly ethos and superb care. However, there is a chronic shortage of staff, those who are there work extremely hard to maintain standards of patient care.

I have 2 criticisms - the food, on the whole, is abysmal, and the disposable bedpans were rough and extremely uncomfortable .

Dear Matron Annie

Thank you very much for taking the time to use Care Opinion to share the details of your inpatient stay at The Knoll Hospital in Duns.

I was delighted to hear about the superb care you received from the very hard working staff. I have shared your feedback with the Senior Charge Nurse and Charge Nurse who will ensure this is also shared with the entire Knoll team.

I was sorry to hear your disappointment with the food and the rough bed pans, I will feed this back to the Catering and Procurement Departments.

I hope you are now fully recovered from your fractured tibia.

Best wishes

Karen
