At my age and fairly fit, my bowel cancer was discovered after a poo test. I was called into Lincoln hospital fairly quickly and was seen by a consultant who talked me through the options. A scan was done where a tumour on my bowel was confirmed. Of course the word Cancer sends the brain into overdrive, however, armed with all the information it was a no brainer, I opted for surgery.
The surgeon seen me shortly after the diagnosis and explained in detail what he would do. I gave my full consent to do what he needed to do-he was brilliant. The team cut out the timer re-joined my bowel ends. After 4 months chemotherapy. And 2 years on I am fit and healthy.
Thanks to all the staff at Lincoln hospital. You are all heroes.
