I recently gave birth to my second child at Perth Midwife Unit and it was a wonderful experience.
I was a bit nervous as my first birth was very quick and I expected my second to be the same, but the care and reassurance I had from my community midwife put my mind at complete ease. The care I have had throughout my pregnancy has been amazing and I really liked having continuity of care by seeing one midwife in the community.
We went into labour on a stormy night and had to consider the drive in so we went in with plenty time and the on-call midwife was very supportive of that decision. We were taken care of so well but left to ourselves also to go through the first labour stage. The midwives who were present at the birth were very supportive and generally hands off, getting involved when they needed to be. We welcomed our baby girl into the world and were presented with plenty of tea and toast.
Every midwife we had contact with was just so lovely and we had the best experience at Perth. We would highly recommend giving birth here if a midwife unit is suitable for you. Thank you Elspeth, Tammy, Lorna, Emma and all the other staff we interacted with!
