I had 6 lagers on a Friday night after having pizza and garlic bread, which I took insulin for. I also consumed a couple of sleeping tablets.
I went to bed and my insulin plummeted while I was sleeping, putting me near death.
When I came into the hospital I was put into ICU, where I was frightened and very confused. The staff had to put me into an induced coma to help my body and mind recover. I was in the coma for 5 days. The staff tried bringing me round but my body was still agitated so the gave me some sedative to calm me down.
When I eventually came round, I had such a caring experience from every single member of staff on duty in the ICU.
I felt cared for, supported and loved. Even in my indignity the staff made me feel so comfortable it gave me dignity.
I owe all these beautiful people my life and they all will hold a very special place in my heart for the rest of my life.
I am happy to leave but also sad to leave these beautiful souls behind.
Thank you All so very much, I owe you my life. Xx
